Grants acquisition and training and technical assistance

Larson Slade Associates brings its years of experience in successful project management, performance improvement, and community service to its role as grants specialist. We have developed a reputation for empowering organizations to win highly competitive grants. We provide guidance during the grant proposal process, or develop the grant proposals ourselves. Recently our grants specialists have developed training and technical assistance (TTA) workshops that can be easily adapted to reflect a particular funder's requirements. We offer a pre-award (grant application/proposal development) workshop and a post-award workshop (launching the program and fulfilling requirements).

Here is a summary of our more recent grant successes:

Customized the pre- and post-award grant workshops for the ANA (Administration for Native Americans) tribal grant program. The pre-award workshop emphasizes:

  • Compliance with ANA grant application requirements and restrictions
  • Orientation to the ANA grant kit
  • Introduction to ANA grant award areas (environmental mitigation, language and cultural preservation, governance, and community services)
  • Development of measurable, allowable goals and objectives
  • ANA' s evaluation process
  • Development of project plans, budgets, capabilities statements, and demonstrations of tribal community and government support for program
  • Indirect costs and in-kind contributions

The post-award workshop focuses on:

  • Establishing draw-down process
  • ANA's reporting requirements
  • Documenting in-kind contributions and receiving approval of indirects
  • DHHS forms and automated systems

In addition to designing and delivering these workshops, we have supported the following successful ANA grant applications within the past two years:

  • Repatriation of social services from state-managed to tribally-managed programs
  • Establishment of tribal governance, including constitutional, judicial and law enforcement reorganization
  • Implementation of tribal-wide data-collection process
  • Language documentation and training
